The Serie A 2016-17 season has started on 20 August 2016 and it is the 115th continuation of the season. Serie A is the maximum level soccer championship in Italy. It is very popular in Italy. Besides, Serie B also a Football League in Italy. Juventus is the mainly successful team in the Serie A.

A total 20 teams participate in the Italian Serie A. Among these teams seventeen teams starting the preceding Series A season (Season 2015/16) and relax of the three teams will promoted to Serie A from Serie B.

Three teams are relegated to Italy Serie B. Three teams returned to Italy Serie A from Italy Serie B. They are Palermo who returned gone only one season in Serie B.
