A total 20 teams participate in the Italian Serie A. Among these teams seventeen teams starting the preceding Series A season (Season 2015/16) and relax of the three teams will promoted to Serie A from Serie B.
Three teams are relegated to Italy Serie B. Three teams returned to Italy Serie A from Italy Serie B. They are Palermo who returned gone only one season in Serie B. Cesena, who previously played in Italy series A in 2007-2008 season. The last time, the play off winner Cesena returned to the top level finals after two years.
Juventus is the protecting Champion. Two teams from the Serie A competent for the UEFA Champions League group period 2015/16 season they are Roma & Juventus and One Team (AC Milan) will play in the UEFA Champion League playoff round. Ac Milan is returning to their original place, though performed very badly in the last season.
